Act #2
Scene 1: Instead of leaving the party with Benvolio and Mercutio, Romeo jumps the wall into the Capulet garden to try to find Juliet. Benvolio and Mercutio mocks and makes a joke of Romeo’s passion and love toward Rosaline. At the end of the scene, they leave without bringing Romeo.
Scene 2: As Romeo goes to the balcony, he sees Juliet walks out onto a balcony, so Romeo hides beneath her balcony and listens what she’s saying. Juliet, on the balcony, sighing for the fact that Romeo is Montague’s son, asks Romeo to forswear his name, give up to being a Montague, and offers to give up herself being Capulet if Romeo sincerely loves her. Romeo comes out of the balcony and reveals his love. As nurse calls Juliet to come back, Juliet asks Romeo to send her letter tomorrow whether he will marry her or not. They exchange words of love, and leave.
Scene 3: In the beginning of scene, Friar Laurence is collecting herbs outside his cell; he talks alone that everything on earth, if used in excess can cause disaster. Romeo comes into his cell, and describes his love for Juliet and his desire to marry her, however, Friar is suspicious of Romeo’s sudden love change. But later, Friar sees an opportunity to end the conflict between the Montagues and Capulets, and ultimately agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet.
Scene 4: The nurse appears and looking for Romeo. She threatens some scary response if Romeo means to mislead Juliet. However, Romeo says that if Juliet can get to Friar Laurence’s cell that afternoon to get married. He also plans with nurse to set a rope ladder to Juliet’s room so that he can climb there for their wedding night.
Scene 5: Juliet waits for the nurse to return and tell her Romeo’s response. When the nurse arrives, she pretends she’s tired to talk but later she tells Juliet to get to Friar Laurence’s cell to be married with Romeo.
Scene 6: Romeo and Juliet get married in church, and Friar counsels for their marriage.
