Romeo and Juliet review

I wrote the new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, which is a vampire version of Romeo and human Juliet. I thought the original play could be transformed more fresh and scary version of Romeo and Juliet, so I made the feud between zombies and human instead of Capulets and Montague. Also I wanted Rosaline to influence the love between Romeo and Juliet; therefore I put Rosaline as a character who interrupted their sincere love, and who led the story to the tragic. I worked with Helen, Jamal, and Lesley, while making movie version of the adaptation. Our work was extremely well done; every character cooperated well, memorized most of the script, acted hard, and edited well in order to make video like a realistic movie such as Twilight. While working with my group, I personally did well on writing script and directing the play. As I wrote the adaptation of the Romeo and Juliet, my group mates treated me as a director, and asked me to give some suggestions that can improve our video to be more realistic. However, we struggled little while shooting video because we had to choose equipments that can represent blood, and our voice was so small in the video. Since we didn’t have professional mic and camera, we struggled with recording our voice in the video; audience could not fully hear our voice because it was covered by wind or other environmental sounds. Therefore we strongly thought we should separately record our voice and edit into the video or speak louder so that everyone can clearly hear what we are saying. 

We wanted to make our video more serious and scary rather than comedic. Since background music can completely change the mood and determine the genre of the video, we put lot effort to choose music. For example, we put romantic and relaxing music while Romeo and Juliet are dancing in the black box, which created romantic scene, then we used scary and dark feeling of background music in the last scene while Rosaline killing Juliet and Romeo conflicting with Rosaline. Therefore, our video was perfectly done with great acting and editing skills, and the content of adaptation was also fresh that audience could enjoy both romantic and scary genres in our video. However, we thought that Romeo’s mother (Helen) should have more part in the movie, so that every character can fairly participate while acting in the video.
