Reflection
Overall, our group did a great job. Although we made a few mistakes so we had to go over like three times, the final one ended up great with Jacob memorizing his lines perfectly and I acting with more emotions. Jacob was Little guy and I was a mom, Lili, who was supposed to protect and love son, Jacob. While having rehearsal on the stage, we always had problem since we had a lack of emotion inside, which doesn’t make the performance looks realistic. However, we did a good job on the real performance day, by acting out with fully emotions inside by sharing eye contacts and making all the voice tone different. I think the scream that I made in the first part of the show really highlighted the guy’s death and helped the flow of the plot. It really helped audience understanding the miserable life of Little Guy and Lili due to Guy’s death and low income that they will afford in the future. Also they would easily understand why Lili had to become night woman and kept wanting little Guy to be educated and learned. Although Jacob missed few of his lines at his monologue part, he significantly improved on acting where being more emotional and showing his love toward his mom, Lili by hugging and putting more gestures on climax part, such as where he found out Lili was a night woman. Our background music further helped to create the mood of scenes; it created the romantic mood where Lili danced with the guest, Ivan, and the tension feelings when Jacob found her mom dancing with a strange man. One thing that I felt little disappointed about our performance was that we had to speak much louder. After watching the video, I was kinda shocked because I could barely hear my voice from the video. Actually while I was performing, I was realizing to speak louder so that the camera can catch it. So I tried my best, however, it was not loud enough in the video. Also I couldn't even hear some of the words since I didn’t speak word by word very clearly, and I was facing toward Jacob. In the beginning part was where I had to talk with Jacob on the table, and since I was keep facing toward Jacob instead of the audience, the camera couldn’t catch my sound cleary enough. Although we went through some mistakes and struggles while filming, I am still satisfied with our final draft since both of I and Jacob significantly improved on acting and finished it perfectly without making any line missings.
