The Glass Menagerie

Tom Wingfield:

Amanda’s son, and Laura’s brother. He plays a significant role as both protagonist and narrator in the play. The play is made from the perspective of Tom, and his memories.

Amanda Wingfield:

Laura and Tom’s mother. A single mother since she was deserted by her husband years ago. She was popular belle in her youth.

Laura Wingfield:

Tom’s sister and Amanda’s daughter. She is painfully shy, and her childhood illness left her one leg shorter than other, so she walks with a limp. She collects glasses and she retreats from the anxiety of social life.

Jim O’Connor:

He and Tom were acquaintances in high school, where Jim was the hero as class president and sports athlete.
