When Desiree awake, Daniel was laying on next to him. Later soon, Madame Mathilde came in and asked Desiree to leave since she is the one who should be taking care of Daniel. However, Desiree opposed by saying that she is meant to be there by god's sake. Also Daniel came by and told Madame that Desiree couldn't leave since she has given hiim a hope. Madame was afraid of Daniel's father, but since he begged her to let Desiree stay, she just let it. When Gabriel came and saw Desiree was taking care of Daniel, he had an argue with Madame that she didn't let her to leave. But when Madame told him how his son has been cured after taken care of Desiree, he couldn't argue with it. So Desiree was allowed to stay and work near Daniel, and Madame helped around Desiree and provided everything that she has wanted. During nights, Desiree stayed with Daniel on the bed, and when he cried for the nightmares, she sang a song for him. After those days, Daniel grew stronger, whereas Desiree was becoming weaker. However, they were somehow tied by an unexplained magic to each other, and they finally had fallen deeply in love. Later on, Madame asked Desiree to leave since he has been cured, but Daniel strongly opposed and chose Desiree as mistress. All the servants and people around them started to feel jealous to Desiree and mocked the fact that she's black. However, Desiree didn't care since all she wanted was Daniel.

Gabriel is coming back in few weeks, and Daniel planned a grand ball for his father's return. Desiree was so pretty on the grand ball. She wore white satin dress, and her hair was glowing and tied into an elegant bun. She was so beautiful that some men wanted to marry him, but Daniel was her only love. Desiree never cared about sly glances of hotel maids or the gossips about her. Later on, Madame Mathilde came and asked Desiree to leave. She said the gods would curse Desiree and the hatred between rich and poor would run deeper. She suggested her to leave before the love destroys her, and Desiree just left from her and the place.

Andrea Galimar came back from abroad, and Daniel's papa opened a homecoming to celebrate her return. As she came back, Desiree had to understand but she felt terrbile loneliness and asked Daniel if he was promised to marry Andrea. Daniel said yes, but he didn't think it was a big deal since they were all young and he thought he could change. When she went to balcony and looked down, there were party going with all different foods. Andrea was the perfect woman at the recpetion. She was beautiful, and smart at the same time. Desiree was brought to another room from Daniel, and stay alone.
